Fearless Fiction Review : 2007/08/03
Fearless: The Dominion Trilogy Book 2
by Robin Parrish
Grand Rapids: Bethany House, 2007, 393 pp., hardcover.
Fearless continues the superhero tale begun in
Relentless and due to be completed with
Merciless. The same characters, featuring Grant Borrows as Guardian, populate the book. The harsh life in Parrish's vision of the future gets worse as calamities strike around the world.
The superheroes do what they can to alleviate suffering, even as they try to learn more about the ancient organization called Secretum that lies behind the prophecy affecting them all. The story at this point is not overtly Christian, but Grant shows Christ-like qualities in many ways. The action is constant, and the tension level remains high throughout the book.
I think the writing has improved in
Fearless, and will probably be even more polished in
Merciless when The Dominion Trilogy concludes. The series must be read in order, so if you haven't read
Relentless yet, start there.
It will be interesting to see where Book 3 takes the tale next year.
