Crimson Eve: Kanner Lake Series Book 3
by Brandilyn Collins
Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 2007, 336 pp., tradepaper.

Brandilyn Collins ratchets up the intensity with Crimson Eve, the third book in The Kanner Lake series.

Carla Radling is a single Realtor quietly living in Kanner Lake until a hit man brings her sordid past crashing back into her life. The lasting consequences of immorality, kidnapping, and political scandal erupt in a violent cauldron that once again make Kanner Lake a less-than-idyllic haven from city life, especially when you're not sure if you can trust the law enforcement.

Series mainstay Leslie Brymes gets thrust into the middle of the action, as you'd expect of an ambitious young reporter in a town experiencing this much turmoil. Other familiar Java Joint characters appear as well.

Crimson Eve is a rollicking ride, although I think the amount of detail about a minor girl's sexual activity makes this an adult book by Christian standards--by broadcast television standards, a made-for-TV movie would air in prime time. You won't want to put Crimson Eve down once you get started!
